Street Theatre Company to Mount CARRIE: THE MUSICAL, 10/3-12

Continuing its mission to bring Nashville cutting edge theater, as well as performance opportunities for young people, Street Theatre Company mounts CARRIE: THE MUSICAL from October 3 through 12.

Based on Stephen King's 1974 horror novel, CARRIE tells the story of a shy teenage girl living in a world of bullies. After a practical joke goes too far, Carrie then uses her telekinetic powers to bring about her revenge. With a brilliant book by Lawrence D. Cohen, haunting lyrics by Dean Pitchford, and beautifully complex music by Michael Gore, this revamped version of the 1988 Broadway musical is the perfect outing right before Halloween 2014.

CARRIE is directed by Street Theatre's Artistic Director, Cathy Street, music directed by Randy Craft, choreographed by DeVon Buchanan, and introduces Belmont student Alie B. Gorrie as Carrie, along with Chris Lee as Tommy, Jessica Theiss as Sue, Marnie Price as Chris, and Kyle O'Connor as Billy. Tickets range from $18-24, and can be purchased at www.streettheatrecompany.org.

CARRIE will be Street Theatre Company's final mainstage performance of the season, and, more importantly, its final mainstage performance in its current Elm Hill Pike location. For the past four years, Street has made the warehouse its home, and now it seeks a new location before announcing its 2015 season. Street Theatre Company has been voted Nashville's number one regional theater (The Nashville Scene), and in this vein the company seeks Nashville's support and patience as they continue their search for a new home.
