The Tennesee Performing Arts Center has announced their lineup of March events including Ella, MOMIX Botanica, and In the Heights.

Ella will run March 1 through March 6, 2011 at TPAC's Polk Theater.  It's a life lived out loud in this exhilarating new musical about "The First Lady of Song," Ella Fitzgerald. This theatrical event weaves myth, memory and music as it tells the uplifting and poignant story of one of the greatest jazz/pop vocalists of 20th century music.

It's 1966 and the fabled songstress is preparing for one of the most important concerts of her career. As she jams with the musicians (including famed trumpeter Louis Armstrong) and gets ready to meet the audience, Ella reflects on her life, her secrets and the love of music that made her soar.

Featuring more than a dozen of her most famous hits, including "A Tisket, A Tasket," "How High the Moon," "That Old Black Magic" and "They Can't Take that Away from Me," this swinging new musical invites audiences to fall in love all over again with the magic and soul of Ella Fitzgerald.

MOMIX Botanica plays March 3, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in TPAC's Jackson Hall.  Moses Pendleton's latest creation for MOMIX, Bontanica, follows the rhythms of the New England seasons, but also the evolution of the world and the passing of a day. Flowers bloom, go to seed and die; vegetable, animal and mineral - all in human form - combine and metamorphose. Fabrics, colors, costumes, projections and props, custom-made by Michael Curry, create a landscape populated by the creations of Pendleton's original, whimsical, mythical imagination. An herbal remedy for the winter blues, Botanica is an event not to be missed.

In The Heights will make a stop in Nashville from March 22 through March 27, 2011 at Andrew Jackson Hall.  Welcome to the kind of musical that comes around once in a generation. A musical that builds on the best traditions of theater while forging into fresh new territory. A musical about the importance of home, family and finding where you belong.

IN THE HEIGHTS tells the universal story of a vibrant community in Manhattan's Washington Heights - a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It's a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggle can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.

Discover where you belong, at Broadway's new Tony Award-winning classic, IN THE HEIGHTS.
