Tennessee Repertory Theatre announced that Stephen Sondheim's multiple Tony-winning musical Company will be added to its 2013-14 season.

"Company is a show I have long loved, one that has been on my 'short list' forever," says Tennessee Rep Producing Artistic Director René D. Copeland. "It means we will be producing an exciting show, with some of Sondheim's best songs, with great roles for our wonderful actors, and one that inspires us again to use the Johnson Theater in very cool way. And Sondheim is, of course, the master of the American musical."

Company replaces Chicago in Tennessee Rep's line-up for next season and will run March 22 - April 12 at TPAC's Johnson Theater. Tickets are currently available for this production by subscription only at tennesseerep.org or by calling 615/782-6560; single tickets will become available to the public on August 5.

In Company, Bobby--a commitment-phobic bachelor--searches for the answers to love and life in New York City on his 35th birthday. While enjoying the company of some lovely ladies, he observes both the joys and pitfalls of marriage from his five quirky couple friends - but is he ready? Only Bobby can find the answer in this witty and piercing examination of matrimony. For how else can you treat marriage, but as a comedy?

The clashing sounds and pulsing rhythms of New York City underscore this landmark multiple Tony Award-winner, considered by many to have inaugurated the modern era of musical theatre. Stephen Sondheim--the most significant creative force in musical theater during the past half-century--delivers an honest, witty, sophisticated look at relationships, and Company is as contemporary and relevant as ever while featuring a brilliant energetic score containing many of Sondheim's best-loved songs.
