Mark McDonnell, producer of the award-winning documentary Chihuly in the Hotshop, will speak at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center Friday, May 21, 2001, stepping in for Dale Chihuly who has undergone a medical procedure that prevents his travel to Nashville.

According to Chihuly publicist Janet Makela, "Dale had to undergo a minor medical procedure and while it was nothing serious, his doctors have determined it best for him not to travel at this time to avoid potential complications."

McDonnell has collaborated with Dale Chihuly on a number of projects over the last 30 years and has spent decades working with glass with a focus on its application in art, architecture and design.

With director Peter West, he produced Chihuly in the Hotshop which is currently airing on American Public Television. McDonnell and West have recently completed the second film about Dale Chihuly.
