A picture is worth a thousand words ... what about a song? Can a picture inspire a song or 15? Merging the worlds of musical theatre, photography and pop/rock music, 35MM: A MUSICAL EXHIBITION comes into focus at the Roxy Regional Theatre's theotherspace for four evenings only, October 2 - October 10.

Hot on the heels of a four-week run of THE WIZARD OF OZ on the theatre's mainstage, Dean Cestari, Elisa Galindez, Ryan Bowie, Quinn Tierney Vaira and Stephen Shore -- along with special guest vocalist Donald Groves -- take their talents upstairs for Ryan Scott Oliver's stunning new multimedia musical inspired by the photographs of Matthew Murphy.

Backed by a live band featuring Matthew McNeill on piano, Thad Wallus on guitar, Colin Mai on bass and Bernard Lott on drums, each photo creates a unique song, moments frozen in time; a glimmer of a life unfolding, a glimpse of something happening. Directed by Ryan Bowie and featuring additional percussion and guitar arrangements by Jeremy Yaddaw and Matt Hinkley, this intricately woven collection of stories told through song re-imagines what the modern American musical can be.

"Several years ago, I stumbled across a song from this song cycle and fell in love with the arrangements," Bowie remarks. "I began a love affair, musically, with Ryan Scott Oliver and this piece. It has been on my short list of productions, and the stars aligned with this cast. It is unlike anything you have seen on the Roxy stage. It will make you think, make you laugh and leave you knowing that an image really is worth a million words."

35MM is presented in theotherspace, the 50-seat black-box theatre located upstairs at the Roxy, and plays at 7:00pm on October 2, 3, 9 and 10. Due to language and content, this production is recommended for mature audiences only.

Tickets are $20 and may be purchased online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at (931) 645-7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9:00am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to curtain).
