Maurice Duruflé’s superb Requiem follows the example set by Fauré, albeit with a few differences, including the use of Gregorian melodies and a slightly more modern compositional style. Around this work, we’ll hear three rare choral works by Debussy based on texts from the 15th century, coupled with the original version of Fauré’s Pavane and Ravel’s Spanish-inspired final score. With mezzo-soprano Julie Boulianne, baritone Phillip Addis and the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal Choir. A timeless evening!
