A MUSICAL MERTON IN MONTREAL CETM Inc. will bring the English-language concert version of MERTON OF THE MOVIES: THE MUSICAL to Montreal on March 7, 8 and 9. MERTON OF THE MOVIES is an uproarious new musical by Donald Brenner (Book) and Doug Katsaros (Music and Lyrics) set in the rollicking age of the Keystone Cops, Harold Lloyd, Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. MERTON OF THE MOVIES grabs your heart and tickles your funny bone while tripping through Hollywood in the madcap era of silent movies.

This musical was selected by an international committee of musical theatre professionals led by award-winning performer John Lithgow at Mainstreet Musicals. It is to be presented in tandem with other regional productions of the show in the United States, all co-sponsored by Mainstreet. CETM's Montreal group will be the only Canadian team to participate in this cross-border collaboration.

MERTON OF THE MOVIES manages at one time to be both an intimate chamber musical and a deliriously joyful Broadway-style extravaganza. The Montreal cast of ten includes Gabriel Lévesque as Merton, along with Stephanie Hradsky, Mike Melino, Louise Bessette, Jared Levin, Dayane K. Ntibarikure, Aiza Ntibarikure, Emma McQueen, Kyla Cook and Russell Wustenberg. The creative team includes director Stephen Pietrantoni, music director Kenny Wong, assistant music director Ian Baird and stage manager Alina Gotcherian.
