Inspired by Beethoven's final work (Opus 120 or the 33 Diabelli Variations), this is a new play by Moises Kaufman, with a recent Broadway run and 5 Tony nominations. A mother (and Beethoven scholar) is coming to terms with her daughter; a composer is coming to terms with his genius; and, even though they're separated by 200 years, these two people share an obsession that might, even just for a moment, make time stand still; all gracefully underscored by a live pianist sharing the stage. 33 Variations geniusly conveys that "when ideas breathe they can linger, even after we're gone" - New York Magazine..
