AN OCEAN AWAY, a new play by Andrei Kureichik, serves as an artistic response to the ongoing war in Ukraine. It portrays the stories of immigrants and refugees from the post-Soviet diaspora in Minnesota, who reflect on their experiences while witnessing the conflict from afar. The production features six actors who bring to life fourteen multi-generational characters, sharing personal narratives that highlight the complexities of identity and the impact of war on Ukrainian communities. Directed by Vladimir Rovinsky and Lisa Channer, this premiere production encapsulates years of work, involving interviews and collaboration with local Ukrainians.
