A reading of David Goldstein's new musical Skating on Open Water will take place at The Playwrights' Center on February 20th.
It's 1997, the cusp of a new century - change is in the air. Nathaniel is a young, lonely, gay man, who grew up on a small town farm. Bullied in school Nathaniel was also rejected by his conservative father. After high school, he moves to NYC to find acceptance, happiness and the man of his dreams. There he meets Chase, a hot, smart, rich, and up-and-coming executive. Is he the man of Nathaniel's dreams or a psychological mess of a Prince Charming? Follow Nathaniel on his heartfelt musical journey to find love and happiness.
David Goldstein holds a B.A. in Theater from the University of Minnesota. Subsequently, he did a graduate study in writing and directing musical theater at the University of Utah. He has written musicals for the University of Minnesota Children's Theater, Joy Company, and the Peppermint Tent. He has provided incidental music for various Twin Cities theaters including The Guthrie Theater and Theater of Involvement. His music video of Now & Forever, a wedding song from Skating on Open Water, has won a number of awards including Best Music Video and a Golden Palm at the Mexico International Film Festival. Now & Forever has been sung at weddings around the world.
