Playlist: America '09 Comes To Chicago At The Pillsbury House Theatre 5/8-5/23
Pillsbury House Theatre presents the area premiere of the original production Playlist: America '09 By Aditi Brennan Kapil and Pillsbury House Theatre's Breaking Ice Company. Playlist: America '09 will be directed by Heidi Hunter Batz. Performances run May 8 through May 23 on the Pillsbury House Theatre Mainstage at 3501 Chicago Avenue South in Minneapolis. Four uniquely American characters, all listening to the same uniquely American sounds of a fusion radio DJ find their uniquely American lives on a collision course of change. What does change mean to them individually or collectively? Award-winning playwright Aditi Brennan Kapil joins the Breaking Ice ensemble to create a piece that is as thought provoking as it is timely.
"America is changing, the world is changing, our very lives are changing," states director Heidi Hunter Batz. "Pillsbury House Theatre set out to examine what it means to experience this change. We have been honored to partner with Aditi Brennan Kapil on this stage production. Through our joint exploration, we've decided to tell these stories of change through the medium of radio; a communication tool that allows people to express their thoughts and emotions with thousands of people while still being able to remain anonymous. Where are we going? Where have we been?
