Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company to Present A STRANGE AND SEPARATE PEOPLE, 10/12-11/3
Next week, Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company will open A Strange and Separate People by Jon Marans on October 12 - November 3, 2013.
Maran's contemporary drama is a very private play that explores sexuality, personal choices, and adhering to one's strict religious beliefs. While all characters in the play are Orthodox Jews, MJTC will bring A Strange and Separate People to life with 3 non-Jewish actors and a non-Jewish director.
Producing artistic director, Barbara Brooks shares, "Strong actors with a strong director who all do their research will bring the text to life in a true and honest way." A Strange and Separate People has three fine actors and a fine director, and we have a great consultant in Rebecca Shavit-Lonstein. One rehearsal was spent in her home for Shabbat dinner, she worked on Hebrew with them, and her husband, Rabbi Alan Shavit-Lonstein, worked with actors on rituals contained in the script.
Nate Cheeseman, a recent University of Minnesota/Guthrie graduate and Brandon Bruce, a Chicago transplant, will both make their debuts on the MJTC stage alongside MJTC veteran, Elena Giannetti.
