Start with four richly gifted singer-songwriters, add 3/4 cup married life, four kids, three cats, one piano, four guitars, one rocking' purple bass, a dollop of sharp social commentary, and a pinch of PMS. Set this on the road to tour for nearly 20 years, throw in a hot flash or two, and you've got Hormonal Imbalance...A Mood Swinging Musical Revue!, an estrogen-fueled, hilarious show that celebrates the best of babes, boys, and botox, starring The Four Bitchin' Babes.

CAPA presents The Four Bitchin' Babes in Hormonal Imbalance... A Mood Swinging Musical Revue! at the Southern Theatre (21 E. Main St.) on Sunday, May 17, at 8 pm. Hormonal Imbalance...A Mood Swinging Musical Revue!, performed by four outrageously funny and multi-talented musicians, examines and ultimately celebrates the lives of today's women. With sorority sister chemistry, The Four Bitchin' Babes perform original songs and stories offering both poignant views and unbridled comedic commentary on the joys and dilemmas of everyday life. With heavenly harmony, they share women's struggles to balance careers and family, chocolate obsessions and low carb inner peace, CNN and TV Land, as well as the trials of dealing with insufficient pay and inadequately cut swimwear.

Debi Smith - Playing guitar, piano, and Irish bodhran (drum), Smith has received seven Washington Area Music Awards (Wammies) including Best Vocalist, Artist, and Album. She has also been a repeat performer on NPR's "Prairie Home Companion" and "Mountain Stage," and has been featured on "CBS Sunday Morning," "Stud's Terkel's Radio Hour," and a half-hour special on Country Music Television (CMT). After touring Russia and Europe, Smith has appeared periodically on "Radio Smithsonian," "The Voice of America" and "All Things Considered" (Susan Stamberg, Noah Adams). The Smith Sisters, Debi and Megan, have released four recordings on Rounder/Flying Fish accompanied by Doc & Merle Watson and Mark O'Connor, and three children's albums that have won Parent's Choice and American Library Awards. Smith has co-written "Marry Me Again" with folk legend Tom Paxton, who included it on his Grammy-nominated album in 2004. Smith has participated in over 20 albums and compilations. Her "Red Bird Red" solo album was chosen as one of the year's best by The Washington Post, and her fourth solo album, "Cupid," was lauded as "... nothing short of amazing" by Music Monthly Magazine.

Sally Fingerett - Raised on Chicago's south side, Fingerett now lives in Columbus, Ohio, with her second husband and two teenage sons which keep her on her toes and fully clothed at all times. Having released five solo and seven Babe CDs, she's participated in 12 additional CD compilation projects. Fingerett has also taken to the stage as an actress, performing with the National Touring Company of the Vagina Monologues. She's been a featured musical guest on Michael Feldman's "Whad'Ya Know," NPR's "Mountain Stage," CNN's "Sonya Live," "PBS Lifelines" with Peter, Paul and Mary, and "CBS Sunday Morning." She is a Kerrville, Texas New Folk award winner for songwriting and Holly Near, Ronnie Gilbert, and folk legends, Peter, Paul, and Mary have recorded her song "Home Is Where the Heart Is." As a comedy writer, Sally's essays have been published in various publications including Random House's collection of contemporary women's humor, Life's a Stitch. She has written music for film and TV and has sung radio and TV jingles such as Butterfinger, Hallmark, and Sears. Fingerett's latest CD, "A Women's Gotta Do Her Thing," includes a moving duet with pal and guest vocalist Janis Ian.

Nancy Moran - Declared "Songwriter of the Year" by the Virginia Sound Achievement Awards and WXGI Radio, Moran has recorded four solo CDs, including her latest titled "Something Old, Something New." Garnering public and commercial radio airplay on 80+ stations coast-to-coast, Moran's CD's have landed her on the Gavin Americana charts alongside Delbert McClinton and Joan Baez. She's been featured internationally on radio stations in Australia, Canada, and Europe. The Richmond-Times Dispatch called her "nothing short of a [modern-day] Joni Mitchell" and "a force to be reckoned with." Dirty Linen Magazine says Moran has "a powerful, expressive voice - stunning." Moran is a columnist for American Songwriter Magazine, a frequent key-note speaker at music conferences and events, an NSAI-endorsed music business instructor, and the author of several books, audio series, and courses including "The Songwriter's Survival Kit," "The Professional Songwriter's Code of Conduct," and "Making and Releasing Your Own CD." Moran resides in Nashville, TN, with her husband, Fett, and their two cats, Fluffy and Suzie Q.

Deirdre Flint - Lauded by The New York Times, Billboard Magazine, and The Christian Science Monitor, Deirdre Flint's songs hang out at the intersection where folk music and stand-up comedy collide. Since her first CD, The Shuffleboard Queens, debuted in 1999, Flint has played The Kennedy Center and The Kerrville Folk Festival and has been heard on 100+ radio programs throughout the country including "The Dr. Demento Show" and "The World Café." Flint's song "Taxidermal Therapy" from the "Hormonal Imbalance" CD was chosen to represent the Babes on Dr. Dimento's Best of 2006 CD compilation. Her offbeat, humorous songs about bridesmaids dresses and shoe shopping as therapy have been heard on TLC's network specials, "A Dating Story" and "Always a Bridesmaid," as well as the BBC's documentary "The Reclaimers." Flint has a Masters degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pennsylvania and is writing a book about education. After a week of cooking school in New York City, she can make a flaming dessert - on purpose - and she can put it out, too. Though she is still single, she does not own a cat.
