Elvis Costello has followed his musical curiosity in a career spanning more than 30 years, borrowing from country, classical, Tin Pan Alley, pop, folk, reggae and many other musical genres. That musical eclecticism distinguishes Costello's accomplishments as much as his fiercely literate and innovative lyrics. He is perhaps best known for his work with The Attractions-he and the group were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003-however he has also entered into acclaimed collaborations with Burt Bacharach, The Brodsky Quartet, Paul McCartney, Swedish mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter, guitarist Bill Frisell, composer Roy Nathanson, The Charles Mingus Orchestra, veteran producer and songwriter
T Bone Burnett and Allen Toussaint. Costello's songs, including hits like "Alison," "Veronica" and "Every Day I Write the Book," have been recorded by artists from George Jones and Johnny Cash to Chet Baker, Roy Orbison and No Doubt. He has also co-written with his wife Diana Krall, the jazz pianist/singer.

The son of British bandleader Ross McManus, Costello (born Declan McManus) worked as a computer programmer during the early '70s, performing under the name D.P. Costello in folk clubs. His debut album, "My Aim Is True," was released in the summer of 1977 to positive reviews. Costello has since received several prestigious honors, including a Grammy for "I Still Have That Other Girl" from his 1998 collaboration with Burt Bacharach. In 2004, Costello was nominated for an Oscar for Best Song-"The Scarlet Tide," sung by Alison Krauss in the film "Cold Mountain." The song was co-written with T Bone Burnett, whom Costello worked with on his 2009 release, "Secret, the Profane and Sugar Cane."
