The Pollard Theatre in historic downtown Guthrie proudly presents Death of a Salesman running Friday, August 14, 2009 through Saturday, September 5, 2009.

Written in 1949 by Arthur Miller, audience members will follow beaten-down traveling salesman Willy Loman, as he struggles to understand the absence of success and happiness in his life. Through a series of soul-searching revelations, we discover how a quest for the American Dream isolated Willy from those who truly loved him.

"Death of a Salesman is an iconic piece, perhaps one of the crown jewels of the American theatre and is known around the world," Pollard Artistic Director W. Jerome Stevenson said. "The play is in essence a love story between a man and his sons, and in a crazy way between them all and America. Obviously, it's not a raucous comedy but its influence on the stage is undeniable and our hope is to demonstrate the show's accessibility and relevance."

Death of a Salesman opens Friday, August 14, 2009 and runs through Saturday, September 5, 2009 with both evening and matinee performances.  See the online calendar for specific dates and times.  The show does contain some adult language.
