Umbrella Group Makes Revolutionary Twists to MACBETH with 3D Projections

Umbrella Group Theatre presents a remarkable new adaptation of Shakespeare's MACBETH in partnership with Marquette University School of Engineering Visualization Lab (MARVL), 1637 W. Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee from April 7-21, 2017.

Imagine Shakespeare's drama of war, ambition, murder, and the occult, which has more than twenty characters, being performed by only four actors. Now imagine those four actors working in a space that allows for the creation of 3D holographic projections. Marquette's MARVL lab is a space that can do just that, creating an exciting challenge for Umbrella Group.

This collaboration between four of Milwaukee's most talented actors and Marquette's cutting edge computer graphic imaging technology will create a groundbreaking theatrical experience. If you are a STAR TREK fan, you might think of it as attending theatre in the holodeck. We think of it as an incredible opportunity to push the boundaries of what's possible in the world of live theatre. This production boasts the acting talents of Todd Denning (HENRY V and THE WINTER'S TALE, Utah Shakespeare Festival; THE OTHER PLACE, Next Act Theatre; and credits with Illinois Shakespeare Festival and Georgia Shakespeare), Libby Amato (JULIUS CAESAR, Optimist Theatre; LITTLE GEM, Milwaukee Irish Arts; THESE SHINING LIVES, Umbrella Group), Allie Babich (HAMLET, Utah Shakespeare Festival; VIOLET, Skylight Music Theatre; VICTORY FOR VICTORIA, Milwaukee Opera Theatre), and Rick Pendzich (I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE, Skylight Music Theatre; VIOLET, Skylight Music Theatre; FALLEN ANGELS, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre). The production is directed by Bo Johnson (PLOW AND THE STARS, Milwaukee Irish Arts; QUILTMAKER'S GIFT, Marquette University; GOD OF CARNAGE, Umbrella Group).
