Newly Renovated Stackner Cabaret Opens At Milwaukee Repertory Theater, 9/7

After years of planning, months of construction and $1.75million later, Milwaukee Repertory Theater is set to reopen the newly renovated Stackner Cabaret on Friday, September 7, 2018 in conjunction with the start of the 65th Anniversary Season with American Premiere of Songs for Nobodies by Joanna Murray-Smith starring the incomparable Bethany Thomas.

Since its opening in 1987, the Stackner Cabaret has been one of Milwaukee's most in-demand performance venues playing to near capacity crowds for an average of 300 performances a year. The much needed renovation increases the seating capacity by over 35% to 186 seats, provides state of the art production capabilities, comfortable new seats and tables, extra bathrooms for ladies, new kitchen and bar, and expanded outer patio space ready to serve up the most delicious meals and best cocktails. In addition to the theater space, the new outer patio bar will open weekdays at 4:30pm for happy hour featuring drink specials and a full appetizer menu as well as a big screen TV to watch your favorite sports teams. Additionally, the Stackner Cabaret will be the first theater in the city of Milwaukee to use a T-coil Loop Hearing System, which provides a magnetic, wireless signal that is picked up by the hearing aid when set to T (Telecoil), eliminating the need for assisted listening devices.

Designed by Uihlein/Wilson - Ramlow/Stein Architects and built by Hunzinger Construction, the Stackner Cabaret remodel would not have been possible without the generous donations of over 100 individuals and corporations, including the lead gift of $750,000 from longtime Rep supporter and former Board President Vince Martin and his wife Jan.
