Milwaukee's First Stage Holds ZUMBATHON for Theater in Education, 5/6
First Stage will hold its first ZUMBATHON for Theater in Education on Sunday, May 6 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, 325 West Walnut Street in downtown Milwaukee. Families are invited to take part in this Latin dance party while helping to raise money to support First Stage's Theater in Education programs. The afternoon will include healthy snacks, raffle items, and more.
First Stage ZUMBATHON for Theater in Education will be led by First Stage Education Associate and licensed Zumba instructor Kim Cieszykowski. Cieszykowski has worked in First Stage's Theater in Education department and Theater Academy over the last ten years, as an instructor and in program development. In addition, she is a group fitness instructor at Gold's Gym and the YMCA, where she teaches Zumba and Body Combat.
First Stage's Theater in Education programs strives to incite young people's excitement for learning, through helping classroom teachers explore their curriculum in interactive, imaginative and integrated methods. Through the professional theater performances, classroom workshops and residencies, students of all grade levels and ages are encouraged to experience their world differently and find new connections to school curriculum. First Stage is Wisconsin's leader in arts-in-education programming, serving nearly 20,000 children in classrooms and with community organizations throughout southeastern Wisconsin each year.
Suggested admission prices are $15 per person in advance and $20 per person at the door. Families can register online at www.firststage.org/supportus/donationForm.asp and enter ZUMBA and the number of guests in the "Order Comments" section.
To register by phone or for questions, contact Nancy Clarkin, First Stage individual giving manager, at (414) 267-2938 or nclarkin@firststage.org.
