Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra and Milwaukee Children’s Choir present Milwaukee Youth Music Celebration, 3/11

Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) and Milwaukee Children's Choir (MCC) are announce that on March 11, 2012, at 3:00 PM, MYSO and MCC will present this year's collaborative Milwaukee Youth Music Celebration in the Auditorium of Elmbrook Church, 777 S. Barker Road, Brookfield.  At this concert-an annual event since 2005-the Milwaukee area's young musicians gather to perform some of the world's best music.  

Featured groups will be MYSO's Senior Symphony-Music Director, Margery Deutsch, Associate Conductor Shelby Keith Dixon-and the MCC's Milwaukee Youth Chorale, Jason Clark, Director.  MCC and MYSO will be joined by the Concert Choirs of West Allis Nathan Hale and West Allis Central High Schools, each directed by Steven Joyal. Soprano Tanya Kruse Ruck and baritone Justin Niehoff Smith will also perform.

Pieces performed by MYSO's Senior Symphony, include:

  • Rimsky-Korsakov, RussIan Easter Overture, Op. 36, conducted by Shelby Keith Dixon 
  • Copland, Billy the Kid Ballet Suite, conducted by Margery Deutsch

The concert will also include works performed by the individual choirs involved in the MYMC.

  • John Rutter, All Things Bright and Beautiful, performed by West Allis Nathan Hale High School Concert Choir, Steven Joyal, Director 
  • Ernani Aguiar, Salmo 150 (Psalm 150) performed by West Allis Central High School Concert Choir, Steven Joyal, Director
  • Gabriel Fauré, Cantique de Jean Racine, performed by Milwaukee Children's Choir's Milwaukee Youth Chorale and conducted by Jason Clark
  • Atahualpa Yupanqui, Dureme Negrito, performed by Milwaukee Children's Choir's Milwaukee Youth Chorale and conducted by Jason Clark.

All choruses and orchestra will perform together:

  • Ralph Vaughan Williams, final movements from Dona Nobis Pacem conducted by Margery Deutsch with soloists Tanya Kruse Ruck, soprano, and Justin Niehoff Smith, baritone.
