The MLK Steering Committee will host the 29th annual DR. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts today, January 20, 2013.

The Steering Committee is pleased that local performing arts groups will also appear in Uihlein Hall as part of the 1:00 p.m. program. Programming will honor those students who will interpret this year's theme "Fair Play, Good Will and Justice." This year's theme came from many of Dr. King's speeches and writings, but most notably from a collection of his works in A Testament of Hope, The Essential Writings and Speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Join the MLK Legacy Steering Committee as we kick off the DR. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration and find out the exciting details of the 2013 tribute to Dr. King.

Paul Mathews, President/CEO, Marcus Center, Janan Najeeb, President, Milwaukee Muslim Women's Coalition, Tom Barrett, Mayor, George E. Koonce, Jr., Ph.D., Director of Development, Scholarship Programs for Marquette University and Speech, Writing, and Art Contest Winners will participate in a press conference for the 2013 DR. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Marcus Center for the Performing Arts' Bradley Pavilion, located at 123 East State Street, 3rd Floor.
