EVERY BRILLIANT THING And Act II Head To The Rep This Spring

Milwaukee Repertory Theater presents Every Brilliant Thing, a one of a kind theatrical experience in the Stiemke Studio April 12-May 5, 2019.

Scott Greer, last seen at The Rep as Lenny in Of Mice of Men, stars in this one man show about a young boy attempting to ease his mother's depression by creating a list of all the best things in the world - Ice Cream, Star Trek, Surprises, Rollercoasters. As the list grows, he learns the deep significance it has on his own life over the course of three decades. This witty new play shines compassionate light on the impact of suicide, and reminds us of all the things that make life brilliant. By Duncan MacMillan with Jonny Donahoe, Every Brilliant Thing is directed by Terence J. Nolen (Arden Theater Artistic Director), with original production design conceived by Christopher Haig (Properties Master and Set Designer, Arden Theatre), costume design by Amanda Wolff (Noises Off, Walnut Street Theatre), production design by Jason Fassl (Guys and Dolls, Milwaukee Rep), and stage-managed Audra Kuchling (Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley, Milwaukee Rep).

Every Brilliant Thing brings the return of the much praised and sought after community engagement program - Act II. After each of the 27 performances of Every Brilliant Thing a guest responder, representing a broad range of community leaders and mental health professionals will give a five minute response to the show, followed by facilitated small group discussions led by trained members of the Zeidler Center for Public Discussion.

Guest responders include a representative from the National Alliance of Mental Health, the City of Milwaukee Health Commissioner Dr. Jeanette Kowalik, VP of Mental and Behavioral Health at Children's Hospital Amy Herbst, Sue McKenzie the Co-Director of Rogers InHealth, Dr. Patricia McManus the President of Black Health Coalition of Wisconsin, Prevent Suicide Greater Milwaukee Coalition Chair Dr. Barbara Moser in addition to other doctors, authors, teens and suicide survivors. For a full list of guest responders and their corresponding dates, please visit www.MilwaukeeRep.com.

Act II has been praised both locally and nationally, and was overwhelmingly successful at bringing diverse groups of people together for dialogue around community issues. More than 9,000 patrons took advantage of the opportunity to share, listen, and learn with a group of fellow audience members over the past three seasons with American Song, Disgraced and Until the Flood, making this a highly sought after audience experience. This format has the opportunity to create the space for mutual understanding and respect allowing for open and honest dialogue.
