Tibbits Opera House is thrilled to announce the special screening of Norman Jewison’s groundbreaking rock opera film, Jesus Christ Superstar. Embark on an extraordinary cinematic journey as Tibbits brings you the iconic film, featuring a once-in-a-lifetime appearance by the movie’s legendary star, Ted Neeley. Join us on Saturday, March 23, for his only Michigan and Midwest exclusive appearance. In an extraordinary partnership, the screening will showcase the 50th anniversary release of the film. Ted Neeley will introduce a newly remastered print of the movie, creating an experience that transcends cinema. This event not only honors the film’s milestone but also serves as a tribute to the late director Norman Jewison (1926-2024). Jesus Christ Superstar, born from the Broadway rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, weaves a narrative of the last days of Jesus Christ, offering a fresh perspective from the eyes of Judas Iscariot. The screening promises a captivating journey through the mesmerizing soundtrack and powerful performances. This unforgettable cinematic celebration has been made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Knights of Columbus. Committed to charity, unity, and fraternity, the group has been dedicated to supporting communities for over a century. Their sponsorship played a pivotal role in supporting this event, embodying the spirit of collaboration and community that Tibbits Opera House cherishes. You can join the VIP reception at https://tedneeley.com/ for an exclusive pre-show experience with Ted Neeley, offering stories and intimate insights. VIP tickets, priced $175-$250, include this unique opportunity. The film, starting at 7pm, will be preceded by a 6pm showing of the documentary “Superstars.”
