The Williamston Theatre has been awarded a grant from the Capital Region Community Foundation to support its capital improvement plans for the 2015-2016 season.
"This is very exciting," said Williamston Theatre's Executive Director John Lepard. "This funding will help us with some important maintenance on our building. We're lucky to own our theatre, but it takes quite a lot to keep it in good shape. Although these funds make up just a small percentage of our overall budget, this support helps us to keep our doors open and to preserve and present the unique voice of the Midwest in our work."
The grant awarded will help the Theatre to complete its 2015 Capital Improvement projects. It will also meet a 1:1 match required by a grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs awarded for these projects. Improvement plans include painting the exterior of the historic building with a coat of special masonry paint, and replacing some HVAC units that are past their life expectancy. Private donations from individuals are also helping the Theatre to meet their Capital Improvement needs for 2015.
The Capital Region Community Foundation serves the charitable needs and enhances the quality of life in Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties. The Foundation serves and seeks out a wide range of donors to build permanent endowments that are used to meet the changing needs and interests of the community.
