Water Works Academy Joins Shakespeare in the Park in Royal Oak 7/26-30
Water Works Theatre company is adding a new element to its summer Shakespeare in the Park in Royal Oak event with the creation of the Water Works Academy for young actors. The program geared to high school and pre-college students will run July 26-30 in Starr Jaycee Park in Royal Oak. Registration ($175 per student) is currently being taken online at www.waterworkstheatre.com.
For eight years Water Works Theatre Company has welcomed students in grades 1-8 to its annual KidsAct! summer program. The new Water Works Academy is a one week intensive for high school and pre-college students that uses a “summer stock” company approach, giving young actors the chance to create their own play. The company’s working professionals will guide students as they embark together writing, directing, stage managing, designing and performing a one-of-a-kind piece of theatrical magic on the Shakespeare stage in Starr Jaycee Park.
“Our new program for high school aged students is one-of-a-kind. Water Works Academy is outdoors, close to home, fun and affordable. It's a golden growth opportunity for the emerging stage performer.” Stated Water Works founder and Executive Director Ed Nahhat.
Registration ($175 per student) for the Water Works Academy and KidsAct! is currently available online at www.waterworkstheatre.com. The Water Works Academy (students entering grades 9-12) runs July 26-30. KidsAct! (students entering grades 1-8) runs August 2-6.
