Threefold Productions has announced the latest addition to its 2012-2013 season, a new adaptation of William Shakespeare's TITUS ANDRONICUS, entitled ANDRONICUS BOUND.

Artistic Director Sarah Lucas says of the project, "We knew that we wanted to produce one of Shakespeare's works, but we needed to find the right way to do it in our intimate space. I met John Vesbit, the author of the adaptation, last year while he was working on his graduate degree at Eastern Michigan University. After several months of work-shopping the piece, we are very excited to take the next step and show everyone what we believe to be a unique take on the TITUS story."

In order to condense and reframe the Shakespearean classic, Vesbit has decided to redirect the focus of play away from the rampant corruption of Rome and instead, to highlight the deterioration of the Andronicus family.

"We are making some bold choices with this adaptation. It was important to me to honor the integrity of the text but also to shift the positions of power presented in the play. It's the same story, but we hope you'll think about it a little differently after seeing this production."

"ANDRONICUS BOUND," starring Luna Alexander, Chris Jakob, Jonathan West, Vanessa Sawson, and Sarah Lucas, will run tonight, July 19th through July 28th (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays) at 8PM at The MIX Studio Theatre in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Tickets can reserved on online (Adult tickets are $18-Students/Seniors tickets are $15) at www.threefoldproductions.org or by calling our box office at 734-968-8717.
