The Purple Rose Theatre Announces Summer Acting Class For Kids

By:

The Purple Rose Theatre Company is proud to announce the addition of a summer acting class for students ages 9 to 12. Kid Purple will be taught by PRTC resident artist Michelle Mountain and culminates with a live showcase performance for friends and family.

Kid Purple, a two-week day camp for children ages 9 to 12, is scheduled for Mondays through Fridays, June 29 through July 10. Class will be held from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the PRTC's rehearsal space in the Chelsea Center for the Arts. Kid Purple encourages children to explore the production process from start to finish in collaboration with professional actors and playwright. Through improvisation games and acting exercises, students create a short play and perform the finished product on the final day of class. Cost for the class is $425.

Founded in 1991 by acclaimed actor and Chelsea native Jeff Daniels, The Purple Rose Theatre Company is a leading American theatre dedicated to producing the new American play and creating opportunities for Midwest theatre professionals. The PRTC is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit professional theatre operating under an SPT agreement with the Actors' Equity Association. The PRTC promotes the development of new American theatre and its practitioners, provides valuable educational opportunities for young artists, and, through consistently high quality production values, has earned the respect of both local and National Theatre communities.

Registration for this and other classes is available now by calling the PRTC administration office at (734) 433-PRTC (7782); office hours are Mondays through Fridays from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. Registrations are accepted on a pre-paid first-come, first-served basis; full payment is required to register.
