The New McCree Theatre presents A RAISIN IN THE SUN, Summer Arts and Fun Camp, and dance classes this spring and summer.
You've heard of it. It propelled a young Sidney Poitier to stardom. You may have seen the movie version of it too. Two years ago, P-Diddy tried his hand at playing the leading role. They then did a made-for-TV movie out of it. Now you can see the "New" McCree Theatre's riveting version. A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, nominated for four Tony awards at a time when plays by African Americans were an anomaly on the Great White Way. A Raisin in the Sun, winner of the New York Drama Critics Award in 1956, opening Thursday, May 3, 2012 and running through May 19, with performances on Thursday and Friday at 8:00p.m. and Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
