Sundance Institute Brings Cedar Rapids To Michigan Theater
The Sundance Institute has announced that Cedar Rapids will make its Midwest premiere at the Michigan Theater as part of Sundance Film Festival USA. This is in addition to the previously announced screening of Win Win on Thursday, January 27.
"Ann Arbor is the only city that will host two Sundance Film Festival USA screenings in 2011 - and for a very good reason," said David Courier, Senior Programmer of the Sundance Film Festival. "Cedar Rapids was filmed in Ann Arbor, and we, along with the film team, feel strongly that its residents should be among the first in the world to see the completed film."
This Midwest premiere stars Ed Helms as Tim Lippe. Tim has been living in a small town his whole life and gets a rude awakening when he arrives in the "giant" metropolis of Cedar Rapids. While his boyish charm and innocence eventually win over his fellow conventioneers, he becomes disheartened when he uncovers corporate corruption. When it seems his life - and chances to succeed - are completely topsy-turvy, he finds his own unjaded way to turn things around. John C. Reilly, Anne Heche and Sigourney Weaver co-star.
The Michigan Theater has packaged both Cedar Rapids and Win Win with a ticket to the Sundance Shorts program. If you buy a Series Pass you will receive a seat to both movie premieres and a ticket to the Sundance Shorts for only $35.
