Sing With Glee for a Chance to Perform Before Gem Theatre Audiences 11/3
By: Gabrielle Sierra
Detroit's Gem Theatre is seeking talented, local glee clubs and choirs to sing before performances of Plaid Tidings, the holiday sequel to the monumentally successful off Broadway musical, Forever Plaid.
The Gem Theatre will host a glee club and choir competition at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010. The grand-prize winners will win the opportunity to perform on stage before the press opening night performance of the Plaid Tidings at 8 p.m. Nov. 11, 2010. The winners will also receive tickets to the show. Runners up will be rewarded too - nine additional clubs and choirs will win the chance to perform for guests inside the theatre and tickets to the show the evening of their performance. Singers will be asked to perform a favorite holiday song - just like those sung in the show. The group who most impresses the judges - including The Four Plaids, Frankie, Sparky, Jinx and Smudge - will win. Glee clubs and choirs - high school and college - must contact the Gem Theatre to register for the competition on Nov. 3. Email esmith@gemtheatre.com with the following information: School name, group leader, number of members, and contact phone and email address. All groups will be contacted and given a time to compete and complete instructions. For more information on Plaid Tidings and its Glee competition, please call 313-963-9800, or visit www.gemtheatre.com.
