SPAMALOT to Play St. Dunstan's Cranbrook Greek Theatre, 5/31-6/15

If you're a fan of knights who sing and dance a lot, sublime silliness and, of course, killer rabbits, you won't want to miss the St. Dunstan's Theatre Guild production of MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT, opening May 31 in the Cranbrook Greek Theatre.

St. Dunstan's is delighted to be the first local theatre to present MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT, a musical comedy "lovingly ripped off" from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Like the film, it's a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian legend. Monty Python fans will see many of their beloved bits from the movie - with plenty of surprises that will be new to audiences who haven't seen the musical.

With book and lyrics by Eric Idle and music by Eric Idle, John Du Prez and Neil Innes, this rollicking musical parody - andwinner of three Tony Awards including Best Musical - pokes fun at both the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as well as Broadway theatre itself. There's also no shortage of spectacle, especially in the glorious setting of the Cranbrook Greek Theatre, which will be transformed into a castle in the forest.

"I've always been a huge Monty Python fan, and from the very first rehearsal we've been laughing ourselves silly," saysDuncan Mein of Beverly Hills, the show's Director. "We think audiences will do the same when they see the show."

With Music Direction by Debbie Tedrick (Bloomfield Hills) and Choreography by Valerie Mould (Royal Oak), the production features a stellar cast of familiar faces and those brand-new to the St. Dunstan's stage.

Featured players include Anthony Marsalese (Bingham Farms) as King Arthur, Jeff Davison (Bingham Farms) as Sir Robin,Alan Canning (Bloomfield Hills) as Sir Lancelot, Taylor Gray (Royal Oak) as Patsy, Craig Van Kempen (Royal Oak) as Sir Galahad,Tom Pagano (Clinton Twp) as Sir Bedevere and Beth Lackey (Fenton) as Lady of the Lake. There's also a bevy of beautiful show girls, those knights who like to sing and dance a lot - and much, much more.

St. Dunstan's will present MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT on May 31 and June 1, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14 and 15. All shows begin at 8:30 p.m. and open seating begins one hour before each performance. Tickets are $22 each for adults and $20 each for students and seniors.
