Aaron Sorkin's Broadway hit focuses on a hotshot Navy lawyer who puts military mentality and the Marine code of honor on trial.

Director Scott Joseph says, "The show is important to me because of all the messages it sends you about being honorable, and the moral judgments of right and wrong that everyone faces in life. Everyday is a learning experience, and the characters in A Few Good Men are no different than you or I."

The play focuses on Daniel Kaffee who is assigned to defend two Marines accused of killing a comrade with a punishment known as a "Code Red." He expects to wrap up the case with a plea bargain. But the lone woman on Kaffee's defense team pushes him to make a valiant effort to defend his clients.
As the team uncovers a high level conspiracy, Kaffee gradually realizes what it means to truly have honor, dignity and humanity.

The acclaimed play went on to become a hit movie in 1992, starring Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson , Kevin Bacon and Demi Moore.

The show runs November 6-22 at the Ridgedale Players theater in Troy.

RIDGEDALE HISTORY

The Ridgedale Players Theater is celebrating its 78th Season. It was created in 1931 as a way for depressed families to release tension triggered by The Great Depression. Minna Miller Smith, a teacher at Lincoln High School ran Ridgedale from her home in Pleasant Ridge, and a high school senior developed the name by combining Pleasant Ridge with Ferndale. The first production, "The House with the Twisty Windows" cost 35 cents to see.

Members grew tired of renting space to perform. So in 1949 Ridgedale built its own theater at the corner of Ten Mile and Republic in Oak Park. A year later children gave their first performance as part of the newly created "Junior Actors of Ridgedale." The construction of I-696 caused members to move the theater to its current location in Troy.
