Pigeon Creek To Bring SHAKESPEARE 101 To The Sauk
Shakespeare 101 features scenes from Henry V, The Tempest, The Merchant of Venice, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company, a touring classical theatre company based in West Michigan, will perform Shakespeare 101 at the Sauk Theatre in Jonesville at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6.
Shakespeare 101 features scenes from Henry V, The Tempest, The Merchant of Venice, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and A Midsummer Night's Dream, as well as live music. The hour-long program is perfect for families. Pigeon Creek's actors are highly skilled at making Shakespeare entertaining and accessible for both Shakespeare lovers and those less familiar with the playwright's works.
Pigeon Creek began making an annual visit to Jonesville in 2017. A planned production of Measure for Measure has been cancelled. Pigeon Creek will return to The Sauk with a full-length production of Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor in 2022. The performance on November 6 will be one of the company's first in-person performances since the beginning of the COVID pandemic.
All tickets to Shakespeare 101 are $10. Tickets are available in advance at www.thesauk.org or starting one hour prior to the performance at the Sauk box office, located inside the theatre at 240 E. Chicago in Jonesville.
The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company was founded in 1998 as a summer production company performing in the Ottawa County Parks, and since that time has expanded to year-round performance and extensive touring. The company frequently performs in venues across Michigan, and has also embarked on out-of-state tours to Iowa, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Besides its regular schedule of touring productions, Pigeon Creek offers a variety of classroom workshops that bring Shakespeare to students in an engaging and exciting way.
