PNT Presents 'Habeas Theatre: an...and Associates Affair' Fundraiser 4/19

By:

On Monday, April 19th at 7 pm, Performance Network Theatre in Ann Arbor, Michigan will present their seventh fundraiser, "Habeas Theatre: an…and Associates Affair". This fundraiser is one of fifteen for Performance Network's, "Taste of the Season (Party for the Arty)". Five actors who previously shared the stage in the theatre's old space (408 West Washington), Judie & Jerry Lax, Ed Stein, Pat McCune and Ann Coopewill, will reunite to revamp their roles in selected scenes from Jerry Lax and Ed Stein's ...AND ASSOCIATES.

Ten years ago, in April of 2000, the success of ...AND ASSOCIATES launched the campaign to move downtown and helped the theatre gather a new base of supporters. Ten years later, five actors will revisit the comedy about a trial lawyer gone bad and his road back to redemption. HABEAS THEATRE audiences will delight at scenes from the play staged in a reader's theatre format and enjoy an ancient Latin themed appetizer buffet, complete with abundant wines. An onstage interview with the playwrights ten years later will round out the evening.

The performance will also feature video of the original performance, featuring never before seen footage of one of its stars, the late Phyllis Wright. Wright was a beloved community leader and actress who graced the stages of all of the major theatres in Ann Arbor. In the play, Wright played an elderly woman who refuses to sue anyone after a bad car accident.

Tickets are on sale now, and "Taste of the Season (Party for the Arty)" catalogs are available by calling the theatre box office at (734) 663-0681. More information is also available online at www.performancenetwork.org. Performance Network Theatre is located at 120 East Huron (Corner of Huron and Fourth). Tickets are $80. The tax-deductible portion of this event is $40/person. Proceeds from "Taste of the Season (Party for the Arty)" will benefit Performance Network's programs including its Children's Theatre Network, Fireside Festival of New Work, Pay-What-You-Can performances, and free tickets for community organizations.
