Oakland University Students Stage LEGALLY BLONDE, Now thru 2/10

By:

For its third production of the 2012-13 season, the Oakland University Theatre Program will present a stage extravaganza guaranteed to put audiences "in the pink."

From left, Jake Wood, Melissa Perry and David Vogel play lead roles in the OU Theatre Program's production of "Legally Blonde."

Beginning tonight, Jan. 31, the Tony-Award nominated musical "Legally Blonde" - based on the 2001 film of the same name - will come to life, offering theatregoers plenty of laughs and lots of irresistible fun.

Playing the lead role of Elle Woods will be Melissa Perry, a junior musical theatre major who attended Walled Lake Central High School. Like many OU Theatre Program students before them, Perry and the rest of the cast members are planning careers in theatrical performance. Audience members who have not yet attended an OU production should prepare to be surprised by the quality and vitality of these performances.

"Legally Blonde" features a large and spectacular set in the intimate Varner Studio Theatre, which will bring the audience close to the action. Dave Campbell, who has an extensive list of professional credits both in the U.S. and in his native Canada, is directing the cast of this feel-good musical comedy. Full performance details can be found at oakland.edu/theatreseason.

Tickets for the show are $18 for general admission, $10 for students and $10 for all seats at a 10 a.m. matinee. Advance ticket purchase is recommended and is available without service fees. Find complete ticket information at oakland.edu/tickets.

The Varner Studio Theatre is in Varner Hall on the OU campus and is surrounded by ample free parking. For interactive and printable maps of the Oakland University campus, visit oakland.edu/map.
