Matrix Theatre Company to Host 2nd Annual Film Festival, 1/30-2/2
Matrix Theatre Company presents its second annual 2014 Detroit Dreaming Film Festival (DDFF) Thursday, January 30 through Sunday, February 2. Through a variety of techniques and subject matter, the films showcase the diversity, struggles and triumphs of the City of Detroit and give Detroit filmmakers a venue to share their stories. Categories include narrative and documentary features and shorts. As a special feature, we will kick off each day of the Festival with one of last year's winners. The opening night reception takes place on Thursday, January 30 at 9 pm and offers the audience a chance to mingle with the filmmakers. An award will be presented for each category at a special ceremony on Sunday, February 2 at 6:45 pm. Tickets for this year's DDFF are $7 per block. A schedule for the entire weekend can be found at www.detdreamingfilmfest.org. There will be "talk-backs," dialogues between the audience, artists and staff, after each block. The 2014 DDFF offers a wide range of subject matter and techniques. "These films cover everything from documentaries on the importance of inclusion for the millions of disabled in our country, to a feature on the committed volunteers who, against all odds, work hard to preserve Detroit's historic Tiger Stadium Ballpark," said Matrix Communications Coordinator Molly McMahon. "I'm excited about the wide range of films this year. We have thrillers, comedies, and some fascinating documentaries. There is really something for everyone."
