) From the underground dance clubs of 1950s Memphis, where rock and roll was born, comes a hot musical that bursts off the stage with explosive dancing, irresistible songs and a thrilling tale of fame and forbidden love. The Tony Award-winning musical, Memphis is set to heat up the Fox Theatre stage on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 8 p.m.; as part of the Fifth Third Bank Fox Theatre Series.
Memphis tells the story of DJ Huey Calhoun, a good ole' local boy with a passion for R&B music, and Felicia Farrell, an up-and-coming black singer that's ready for her big break. Come along on their incredible journey that's filled with laughter and roof-raising rock 'n' roll.
Winner of four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Memphis played pre-Broadway at the La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre and features a Tony-winning book by Joe DiPietro (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change) and a Tony-winning original score with music by Bon Jovi's founding member David Bryan.Photo Credit: Jeremy Daniel
