Katie Doral Named New Managing Director of Purple Rose Theatre Company

The Purple Rose Theatre Company is proud to announce that Katie Doral, former general manager of First Stage Milwaukee, has been appointed as the new managing director of The Purple Rose Theatre Company. Doral succeeds Julie Brunzell, who alternately filled the roles of stage manager, company manager and managing director since 1999. Doral began her new position on September 23rd.

Doral returns to The Purple Rose after having been an AEA stage manager from 2003-2007 as well as a graduate of The Purple Rose Apprenticeship program in 2003. Since then, she was the patron services manager at First Stage Milwaukee before being promoted to general manager. She brings to The Purple Rose over 11 years experience working in non-profit theatre. Guy Sanville, artistic director at The Purple Rose, commented, "I have known Katie Doral since she apprenticed with us, years ago, right out of college. She is a passionate theatre professional who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Rose. We are thrilled Katie is coming home."

Doral stated, "I am deeply honored to have been selected for this position. I love The Purple Rose and I am confident that great things lie ahead for our company and our community as we continue our mission of producing the new American play and creating opportunities for Midwest theatre professionals. Along with our dedicated management team, incredible staff and passionate board, we look ahead with strength of purpose and a commitment to serving our audience."

Founded in 1991 by acclaimed actor and Chelsea native Jeff Daniels, The Purple Rose Theatre Company is a leading American theatre dedicated to producing the new American play and creating opportunities for Midwest theatre professionals. The PRTC is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit professional theatre operating under an Small Professional Theatre agreement with the Actors' Equity Association. The PRTC promotes the development of new American theatre and its practitioners, provides valuable educational opportunities for young artists, and, through consistently high quality production values, has earned the respect of both local and national theatre communities
