Johnny Mathis to Play Cobb Great Hall on October 17

Legendary recording artist Johnny Mathis brings his breathtakingly silky, sultry sound along with a 24-piece symphony to Wharton Center this fall. With at least one top 40 hit in each of the succeeding four decades, Mathis's songs are some of the most popular in the world. On Thursday, October 17, 2013, Johnny Mathis will perform on the Cobb Great Hall Stage for an extraordinary night of jazz, pop and country music. Tickets range from $30.00 to $70.00, with $15 student tickets available, and are available to purchase online at whartoncenter.com, at the Auto-Owners Box Office, or by calling 1-800- WHARTON.

This Grammy award-winning artist has sold over 350 million records worldwide. His career spans 57 years and his music continues to impress. His latest album, Let It Be Me: Mathis In Nashville earned a Grammy nomination for Lifetime Achievement. His next project, a recorded collection of seasonal music, Sending You A Little Christmas, will be released October 29th.

In 1955, Johnny was offered the chance to attend the Olympic trials for high jump, but he turned it down in order to sign his first contract with Columbia records. He is now the longest- running artist on Columbia records, having recorded more than 110 albums during his impressive career, so signing the contract was a great move!
