Jeff Daniels Returns to the Purple Rose Tonight

The Purple Rose Theatre Company will present Jeff Daniels' Onstage & Unplugged for a limited eight-show engagement from tonight, July 28 through Sunday, August 2, 2015. (Editors' Note: Please find a full performance / pricing schedule on page 2). All performances will be at The Purple Rose Theatre Company, 137 Park Street, Chelsea, MI 48118. This glorious week of Jeff Daniels' Onstage & Unplugged performances will conclude with the 4th annual Purple Rose Backyard BBQ fundraiser on Sunday, August 2nd at the beautiful Zingerman's Cornman Farms in Dexter, MI. Guests will enjoy cocktails and BBQ, live/silent auctions, live music by The Ben Daniels Band during the day, and Jeff Daniels' Onstage & Unplugged with dessert reception at 8pm.

A prolific songwriter, actor, as well as playwright, Daniels (PRTC Founder) will perform an arsenal of songs that are alternately humorous and poignant. Daniels has toured nationally with his music; most recently completing an 18-city tour with his son, Ben, and The Ben Daniels Band to promote his new album, Days Like These, released last November. This Fall, Mr. Daniels has two movies opening in theatres nationally: Ridley Scott's The Martian, and Steve Jobs directed by Danny Boyle. The 2013 Emmy winner on HBO's acclaimed series The Newsroom is also filming the final two installments of The Divergent Series, Allegiant part 1 & 2. "Jeff Daniels is one of the busiest men in show business. The fact that he chooses to spend his holidays and this surprise summertime engagement performing Unplugged for the theatre company he founded and continues to nurture speaks volumes of his dedication to not just our company, but to our state. This year's line-up will feature old favorites as well as songs from Daniels' 2014 album, Days Like These. His first album, Jeff Daniels Live and Unplugged, was recorded in 2001 during the original PRTC concert that sparked the tradition. Daniels' other critically acclaimed albums, Live at the Purple Rose, Grandfather's Hat, Together Again with Jonathan Hogan, and Keep It Right Here (Featuring Brad Phillips and Dominic John Davis) are available for purchase at The Purple Rose Theatre Company Box Office.
