The 19th Season of Broadway Onstage Live Theatre and the 32nd Season of Dennis Wickline Productions, Inc. continues with the award-winning comedy GOD OF CARNAGE, by Yazmina Reza as translated by Christopher Hampton, when it opens on Friday, September 7 at the Eastpointe Theatre.  Running Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Select Sundays at 2pm, this comedy tells the story of two couples coming together to discuss an altercation between their respective children in a nearby park.  The production runs through Saturday, October 6.

Select Sunday Matinees are only performed at Broadway Onstage when a prearranged group of 30 or more is scheduled to attend.  Broadway Onstage Live Theatre is located at 21517 Kelly Rd. at Toepfer (8 ½ Mile Rd.) in Eastpointe. The theatre is the home of the patented TeeVeeStage™ Presentation system, which employs cameras above the audience and monitors above the stage to provide audience members with different viewing perspectives of the live stage performance. Broadway Onstage Live Theatre is also the home of Dennis Wickline Productions, Inc., which began producing Non-Equity professional live theatre on the Eastside of Detroit in February of 1980.

GOD OF CARNAGE is the Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play.   The New York Times said of this comedy, "A streamlined anatomy of the human animal…delivers the cathartic release of watching other people's marriages go boom. A study in the tension between civilized surface and savage instinct, this play is itself a satisfyingly primitive entertainment."   The story concerns a playground altercation between eleven-year-old boys which brings together two sets ofBrooklyn parents for a meeting to resolve the matter.    Everyone is trying to be painfully civilized.  At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses, and the rum flows, tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their liberal principles in tatters.   The human explosions that occur provide comedic moments that are rare in the theatre.

The cast at Broadway Onstage is exceptional.  Portraying Michael and Veronica, the parents of Henry, the victim in the altercation, are Rick Mason and Krista Schafer.  Mr. Mason and Ms. Shafer have both been seen in a variety of professional venues throughout the area.  Mr. Mason was also seen as Kevin in THE SCOTTISH PLAY at Broadway Onstage several seasons ago and Ms. Schafer was seen as Lorraine in THE SEX MANIAC last season at the Eastpointe Theatre.  Portraying Alan and Annette, the parents of Benjamin, the aggressor in the childhood altercation, are Eric Niece and Sharron Nelson.  Both Mr. Niece and Ms. Nelson have also been seen in a number of professional venues throughout the area.  Mr. Niece was seen as Aaron in THE SEX MANIAC at Broadway Onstage last season and Ms. Nelson has appeared in a variety of productions there, most recently as Falon Sweetwater in THE GREAT AMERICAN SEX FARCE!  The production is under the direction of Dennis Wickline, the producer of all shows at Broadway Onstage.

Tickets for Opening Night, Friday, September 7 are $15.  Tickets for all other performances are $18.     Again,Broadway Onstage is located at 21517 Kelly Rd. at Toepfer (8 1/2 Mile Rd.) in EastpointeMichigan.  Ticket Reservations are strongly recommended by calling (586) 771-6333.
