Classrooms Grades 3-5 Can Win A Chance To Get Up And Move With Disney's THE LION KING Image

Miller Auditorium is inviting Local 3rd- 5th grade classes to share their healthy habits. The winning classroom will receive tickets to a performance of THE LION KING in Kalamazoo as well as a "Get Up and Go" workshop taught by THE LION KING cast members.

Disney's THE LION KING premieres at Miller Auditorium from April 4-15, 2018, and to celebrate the event, Miller Auditorium is giving away tickets and an educational workshop to one lucky classroom. The workshop, titled "Get Up and Go," promotes fun ways for kids to lead healthier lifestyles through dance and is inspired by the show's Tony Award-winning choreography and music. We're encouraging schools in the community to enter the contest and show us how they Get Up and Go!

Local 3rd through 5th grade elementary school classrooms are invited to tell us how they stay active and healthy. Entries can be a written essay or a short video (two minutes or less), illustrating the various ways the classroom likes to Get Up and Go. Written essays must be submitted as one-page Word document via email to miller-comments@wmich.edu by March 14. Accepted video file formats are .mp4, .mov and .wmv. Please contact Miller at the same email address if you have any questions.

Miller Auditorium staff members will chose one classroom entry from all eligible entries on March 21. The winning classroom will be announced on Miller Auditorium's social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). Workshop date and time are TBA, but will take place during April 10-13, 2018. A maximum of 40 students can participate in the workshop, subject to facility size. The selected classroom will also receive 40 tickets to the Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. performance of THE LION KING at Miller Auditorium. These 40 tickets are for students, teacher and chaperones. Winning classroom must provide their own transportation to Miller Auditorium for the performance.

Part of the Zhang Financial Broadway in West Michigan Series, THE LION KING comes to Miller Auditorium for sixteen performances from April 4-15, 2018. Tickets are available now by calling (269) 387-2300 or (800) 228-9858, online at www.millerauditorium.com or by visiting the Miller Auditorium Ticket Office. Groups of 10 or more can call (269) 387-2312 for special discounts.
