Bay City Players Elects Officers for 94th Season

Bay City Players, Michigan's oldest continuously operating community theatre, held its annual membership meeting recently and recognized top volunteers for the organization.

Volunteer of the Year award is a distinction given to a person or persons who have offered outstanding service during the past season. Their gift of time is priceless and we appreciate their efforts.

Bay City Players is proud to announce two recipients of the Volunteer of the Year award for season 93, 2010-2011.

The award was handed out to the husband and wife team of Sarah and Will Lange. Sarah has established herself as a much needed volunteer in the area of lighting execution and Will has graciously learned the many aspects of sound design and sound execution at Bay City Players. Both Sarah and Will have "given countless hours last season and have been willing to learn and assist wherever they were needed" said current board member, Greg Burke.

The Dorothy and Ken Arnett Distinguished Volunteer award is Bay City Players high distinction. It is presented for intense dedication and work that has provided a source of life to Bay City Players. The recipient of this award not only receives a plaque but their name is put on permanent display in Bay City Players lobby.

This distinguished award was given to two volunteers who have over forty years of combined servIce To Bay City Players.

Lisa Sternberg has been "a stalwart supporter of the arts". Lisa has served Bay City Players for the past several years as box office chairperson and is in the box office for most every show. Lisa has helped to implement and run our electronic box office among her many other volunteer experiences.

The award has also been given to Barb Skowronski who started at Bay City Players over twenty years ago as an usher. Barb quickly moved her way through most every volunteer area running the original box office, organizing mailings and she even took the time to perform on stage. Barb continues to take care of deposits and continues to help out in the box office.

The Players Board of Directors also elected officers. Officers for the 2011-2012 year are:

· President - Mike Wisniewski of Bay City

· First Vice-President - Jeanne Cadena of Bay City

· Second Vice-President - Susan Meade of Bay City

· Secretary - Nathan Cholger of Bay City


Other members of the Board of Directors are Vickie Bowden of Bay City, Greg Burke of Bay City, Nathan Cholger of Bay City, Terri Huebner of Midland, Carol Huskins of Essexville, Susan Lindow of Bay City, Judy Miller of Bay City, Kurt Miller of Bay City, John Tanner of Auburn, Tracy Teich of Bay City, Michael Vasicek with Tom Jacobs of Bay City and Lauren Ouellette of Essexville as Student Representatives. Marty Kovacsi and Leeds Bird of Bay City also serve as an Honorary President.

The Board thanked and recognized outgoing members: Kyle Arnett of Midland, Denise Avery of Midland and Kunio Ouellette of Essexville. The Board also re-appointed Tracy Teich of Bay City as Treasurer for the organization for the 2011-2012 season.
