Get ready to laugh your moon off as the Riverbank Theatre is presenting Moon Over Buffalo at The Snug Theatre starting October 20th in Marine City. The comedy centers around a husband and wife where everything that can goes wrong, goes wrong. "It's performed on our Snug stage and if you haven't been to that venue before, you are in for a treat," said the director, Brittany Smith. "You're in for a hilarious night out, but part of what makes the show so funny is the intimacy of the space!"

Moon Over Buffalo by Ken Ludwig is about fading stars of the 1950s who are married and are performing two plays at once, but of course, it would not be a comedy if everything went right. Smith loves the show because it is a physical comedy. "I like directing farce because it is choreography: running in and out of the doors, interesting stage pictures, and physical bits," she said. "One of my favorite moments is a scene when Howard, the fiancé, is there to meet Roz's parents, George and Charlotte, for the first time. He gets mistaken for the director, Frank Capra, and is accidentally thrown in the closet. A second later, he comes flying out continuing the dialogue as if nothing has happened."

Smith is the production manager for The Snug and Riverbank Theatres, but over the past three and half years has held a lot of positions including acting, directing, and choreographing. Originally from Shorewood, Minnesota and brought up around two very musical parents, she ended up attending Perpich Arts High School and then went on to get her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre at the University of Miami in Florida. She ended up moving to Michigan after marrying her husband, Aaron, who also works at the Riverbank as the Managing Director of their Riverbank Performing Arts Academy. "Aaron plays Paul in Moon Over Buffalo. We've had a blast over the past four years performing with each other," she said. "Our very first musical together was at The Snug. It was Hello Dolly! He played Cornelius Hackle and I was Irene Malloy."

Just like Smith and her husband being married in real life and working on the production, Moon Over Buffalo has another real life married couple working on it - Tony and Terri Amato who play the roles of George and Charlotte Hay. "The show has been joy to work on. I have a very talented group of actors," said Smith. "Moon Over Buffalo is great comedic writing by Ken Ludwig, so if anyone is looking for a hilarious night out, a visit to our production is a must!"
