Avon Players Gala Previews Upcoming Season

By:

Avon Players Community Theatre announced its 2013-2014 season on Saturday night at its Gala Dinner; the series comprises five productions and summer youth theatre. After a lavish buffet of home-made dishes, guests gathered in the theatre at beautifully decorated tables highlighted by glowing paper lanterns revealing logos from upcoming shows.

Opening Avon Players' 67th Season in September will be Little Women: The Musical, based on Louisa May Alcott's classic tale about the adventures of feisty dreamer, Jo March, and her three sisters. For the holidays, audiences will be treated to a Christmas favorite: It's a Wonderful Life presented as a radio show. The new year will bring us Urinetown, a satirical musical comedy about a dystopian society where the use of toilets is taxed. In the spring, audiences will be treated to lots of laughs with the timeless comedy Arsenic and Old Lace. Rounding out the season in May will be Next to Normal, the Pulitzer Prize winning dramatic musical which delves into the world of mental illness and its effects on a family. Avon Players will again offer their annual Youth Theatre program in the summer of 2014.

This year only, season ticket holders will receive a special discount. To remain competitive with area community theaters, Avon has raised their individual ticket sale prices minimally. However, season ticket prices will remain the same for the 2013-2014 season. For tickets or for more information call the box office at (248) 608-9077 or visit us online at www.avonplayers.org.

The Avon Players Theatre is located at 1185 Washington Rd, Rochester MI 48306 and is a 501(c) 3 non-profit community theatre serving Oakland and Macomb counties since 1947.
