Actors' Theatre Grand Rapids to Present GOD OF CARNAGE, 4/17-26

On April 17, 2014, Actors' Theatre Grand Rapids will continue its 33rd season with God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton. The show will be presented Thursday through Saturday on two consecutive weekends at GRCC Spectrum Theater, 160 Fountain Street NE, Grand Rapids, beginning on April 17, 2014 and closing on April 26, 2014. All performances begin at 8PM. A special talk back will follow the performance on Friday April 18th; discussion topics include: communication and conflict management.

A playground altercation between their eleven year-old boys brings two couples together in an attempt to resolve the matter. Initially diplomacy prevails but as the evening progresses (and alcohol flows...), the gloves start to come off in a comically explosive landslide that will leave the couples with more than just their progressive principles in tatters.

God of Carnage features direction and lighting design by Tom Kaechele, set design by Monika Essen, costume design by Kelly Lucas, properties design by Mary Jo Denolf, and sound design by Steve Nardin.

The cast features Amy McFadden, Sammy Publes, Carrie McNulty, and Craig Hammerlind.

Ticket prices begin at $24 for adults and $20 for students/seniors. Students with valid ID are eligible for $10 RUSH seating, based on availability, beginning one hour before the performance. Groups of ten or more are eligible for discounts. Tickets for God of Carnage may be purchased online at www.atgr.org or by contacting the Spectrum Theatre box office at (616) 234-3946.

Actors' Theatre Company was founded in 1980 by a group of West Michigan actors, led by Professor Fred Sebulske, for many years the Chair of the theatre program at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC). The company chose a mission of staging contemporary plays and musicals that might not otherwise be made available in the area due to reasons of complexity, content or subject matter. The company produces five main stage works annually, an annual ten-minute play festival each June, and a "Second Space Series" in July and August, which performs at Dog Story Theatre. Actors' has been nationally and regionally recognized for its work, including awards from the American Association of Community Theatres, Between the Lines newspaper, On The Town - Townie Awards and over 90 Grand Awards for excellence in West Michigan theatre.

Actors' is committed to providing West Michigan with the best in entertaining, innovative, challenging, and thought-provoking theatre.
