Spotlight No. 1: Emerging composers

Friday, April 21, 7:30 p.m.

A platform for world premieres! The opening night of our 17th year features never before heard music including solo, electro-acoustic and chamber works composed by emerging composers from Lynn University and the South Florida community.

Master class and workshop with Marti Epstein

Saturday, April 22, 2 p.m.

Join us for a special master class and workshop led by Marti Epstein featuring her own works performed by selected Lynn Conservatory of Music students.

Marti Epstein started studying composition in 1977 with professor Robert Beadell at the University of Nebraska and has degrees from the University of Colorado and Boston University.

Marti was a fellow in composition at the Tanglewood Music Center in 1986 and 1988 and worked with other talents like Oliver Knussen and Hans Werner Henze. As a result of her association with Henze, she was invited by the City of Munich to compose her puppet opera, Hero und Leander, for the 1992 Munich Biennale for New Music Theater.

Marti is an active pianist and a devoted professor of Composition at Berklee College of Music, where she has taught harmony, counterpoint and composition since 1991.

Read and record project

Saturday, April 22, 4 p.m.

Join us for a live recording session featuring work from a past composer-in-residence. Highlighting extraordinary composers of past years expands our offerings to the student body and community while strengthening the festival's commitment to bring new music to life. Dress appropriately—you may be featured in a video.

Spotlight No. 2: The Art of Marti Epstein

Sunday, April 23, 3 p.m.

Don't miss this extraordinary opportunity to hear a program celebrating Marti Epstein’s chamber works performed by selected conservatory students.
