WICKED BREAKS BOX OFFICE RECORD AT BROWARD CENTER

Ft. Lauderdale --- The smash hit musical WICKED broke box office records at Broward Center last week by delivering the highest grossing eight-performance-week of a Broadway show in the venue's history. Gross box office receipts report a figure of $1,360,415.20. WICKED will continue its run at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts through April 6, 2008.  WICKED is part of the Stanford Broadway Across America – Ft. Lauderdale 07-08 season presented by Florida Theatrical Association.

Broadway Across America's Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Theatricals, Susie Krajsa, stated, "We are excited to be a part of this amazing milestone for the Broadway Across America – Fort Lauderdale series.  With our partners at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, we strive to continue to bring the best of Broadway to Fort Lauderdale each season."

WICKED will run through April 6 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets range in price from $27.00 - $75.00. Although WICKED is poised to break the box office record in each of its remaining performance weeks, tickets are still available. Best seats are available on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

In addition, a day-of-performance lottery for a limited number of seats will be held daily for WICKED. Each day, 2 hours prior to show time, people who present themselves at the Broward Center AutoNation Box Office will have their names placed in a lottery drum and then thirty minutes later, names will be drawn for a limited number of seats at $25 each, cash only. This lottery is available only in-person at the box office, with a limit of two tickets per person.

WICKED is a new musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, Disney's Enchanted, Academy Award winner for Pocahontas and The Prince of Egypt) and book by Winnie Holzman ("My So Called Life," "Once And Again" and "thirtysomething") based on the 1995 best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire. The musical is directed by 2003 and 2004 Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (Take Me Out, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, Glengarry Glen Ross) and features musical staging by Tony Award winner Wayne Cilento (Aida, The Who's Tommy, How To Succeed…). WICKED, the untold story of the witches of Oz, is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone.   Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One – born with emerald green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey and how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.   Purchase tickets only from the following authorized ticket sellers at Broadway Across America, Broward Center AutoNation Box Office or Ticketmaster.
