The Main Street Players Present

Lisa Loomer's LIVING OUT

Main Street Players announced its first show of the 2012 season, the heartwarming, thought provoking, and topical play Living Out, coming to the Main Street Playhouse at 6766 Main Street in Miami Lakes, Florida, from February 10th  through February 26th.

Living Out is the story of Nancy and Richard, a family of lawyers living in an affluent section of Los Angeles. They are seeking a "nanny" to look after their newborn daughter. On the other side of town live Ana Hernandez and husband Bobby, two undocumented immigrants from El Salvador who fled their country because of a civil war largely funded by the United States. Ana needs a job that pays enough money to bring her older son, Tomas, to this country, but all her searches as a caregiver end in rejection because she has a child at home. Thus, when Ana meets Nancy, she lies-and says both her boys are in El Salvador. Nancy and Richard overlook Ana's illegal status because they feel the war was immoral.

Lisa Loomer's work explores their shared experiences and paralleled obstacles and desires. The play hits right at the heart of the immigration issue and the struggles that arise from distinction of class, race, and legal status. An outrageously funny and tragic play, Living Out is sure to win the hearts and minds of audiences in South Florida, where the Latin immigration issue is at the forefront.

Performances will be at 8:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and at 5:00 pm on Sundays, with a special 8:00 pm performance on Thursday, February 23rd.  Tickets are $20 for general admission, $18 for students and seniors, and special group rates are available.

For more information, or to reserve tickets, please call 305.558.3737.  Purchase tickets online through their website at www.mainstreetplayers.com.   Tickets are also available at the door.

Living Out features Marina Catalán, Anita Garcia, Patty Fernandez, Lali Navarro, Cairo Cangas, Michael Fernandez, Juanita Castro, and Clara Lyzniak. The show is produced by James Carrey and directed by Daniel Nieves. The stage manager is John Olivera.
