The Henegar Center (Hank Rion, Artistic Director) announced casting for The Hunchback of Notre Dame, a musical. Based on the Disney animated movie and inspired by the novel of the same name, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a darker adaptation of the film by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. The musical opened at La Jolla Playhouse on October 26, 2014 and subsequently opened at the Paper Mill Playhouse the following year. The show dials back the comedic features to embrace the novel's gothic tone. Despite being presented with the challenge of balancing the dark themes with the expected Disney magic, the production received astounding praise from reviews seen in The New York Times and Playbill.com.

The Henegar Center is the fourth theatre boasting the rights to the magical Disney show. "We are very honored to be chosen by Disney Theatricals and MTI to produce this thrilling musical," Rion said. "While the show is a little darker in tone than the movie, the show's message is for everyone." The original text written by Victor Hugo in 1831 is echoed in the storyline and the songs, along with new music by the original composers, are used from the Disney movie.

Casting for The Hunchback of Notre Dame includes Dillon Giles (Henegar: Big Fish, Nice Work If You Can Get It, The Wizard of Oz) as Quasimodo, Amanda Manis (Henegar: Nice Work If You Can Get It, Memphis) as Esmeralda, Damon Dennin (Henegar: The Witches of Eastwick, Hand to God, Big Fish) as Claude Frollo, and Richard Klenotich (Henegar: The Witches of Eastwick, The Wizard of Oz, Cry-Baby) as Jehan Frollo. Additionally, Lindsay Nantz as Florika, Rob Landers as Father Dupin, Dominic del Brocco as Clopin Trouillefou, and Joe Horton as Captain Phoebus de Martin.

The creative team for The Hunchback of Notre Dame includes David Robertson (Set Design), Josh Huss (Lighting Design), Vanessa Glenn (Costume Design), Thom Restivo (Sound Design), Nathan Dobson (Stage Manager), and Steve Rossi (Technical Director).
