The Garden Theatre announces the 2010 Summer Camps, running the week of August 2-6, at the Garden Theatre (160 West Plant Street). Both camps include hands-on learning experiences with a performance opportunity at the end of the week for family and friends.

Think Fast
August 2-6, 9am-12noon
Instructor: Richard Paul
Learn how to say yes to ideas, listen, play and look silly without fear as students build improvisational skills in a week. An informal showcase will provide a chance to demonstrate what students learn will be on Friday, August 6 at 12noon.

African Arts Safari
August 2-6, 1-4pm
Instructors: Don and Adetutu Harrell of OrisiRisi African Folklore
Throughout the week, students will learn authentic African drumming, dancing, singing, and storytelling. The camp culminates with an African musical theatre finale - a fitting end to a summer camp whose memory will last a lifetime! All drums and percussion instruments for daily use, and authentic African costumes for the performance will be furnished by OrisiRisi African Folklore. The final production will be Friday, August 6 at 4pm.

ABOUT THE GARDEN THEATRE
Located in the heart of historic downtown Winter Garden on Plant Street, the Garden Theatre is part of the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation, Inc., a not-for-profit community organization which works to preserve local history and offers cultural theatric experiences unique to West Orange County and the citizens of Winter Garden. The theatre restoration project, which began in 2003, showcases an atmospheric theatre in a Mediterranean Revival style venue. The former single screen movie theater hosts live theatre, dance and music, cinema viewings, various community events and educational programs.
